The entertainment continued with the local fife and drum band playing lively tunes for all of us to enjoy. Besides the entertainment there was an antique sale tent, a farmer's market and art events for the children.
And then there were the horse races. There were 5 races for us to enjoy. Some local betting (without exchange of money) was going on by some of the tailgaters next to us - all in good fun. Of course the ones I rooted for came in last at each race. Next year their owners probably hope I pick some other horse to win.
The kids were enjoying petting the officials' horses and watching the horses race by. Here you can see them with Milky Way - a very gentle horse who loved meeting the kids. Being a novice as I am with all things horse-related, it was just delightful to see the muscle definition on the race horses and the beauty of the officials horses - everything down to the way their manes were braided.
It was sad when it was over and we headed for home. Next year - come join us and enjoy the festivities. It's the last Sunday in September. See you there!
