On Saturday mornings from now through July 15th there are archaeology workshops which explore Site 6. This is an area that was once the home of enslaved field laborers in the early nineteenth century. This is followed on Saturday July 16th with another workshop on how to learn from the records of the digs and from the excavated artifacts.
On July 9th The Natural History of Trees Walk takes place. Learn how trees played an important role in Thomas Jefferson's gardens. Peter Hatch leads the walk and helps you learn how to identify fifty tree species and understand their cultural and historical character. The annual Wintergreen Summer Music Festival will occur on a three consecutive Thursdays - July 14, 21, and 28th. This year's theme is Realms of Gold: A Mediterranean Odyssey.
We hope to see you in July when you explore all that Monticello has to offer.
