Restaurant Week - Charlottesville

Restaurant Week is almost here!  This year's summer event occurs July 11-17th.  One charity is selected to benefit from all the dinners sold during the week.  This summer's charity is
the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank which supports more than 350 pantries, soup kitchens and outreach programs across Western and Central Virginia.  They distribute food directly to anyone in need. One dollar ($1) from every meal sold will be donated to Blue Ridge Food Bank.

So make a reservation at your favorite participating restaurant and enjoy a great meal that in return helps raise funds for this terrific organization.  If you are staying with us at Foxfield Inn and do not know which of the great restaurants to reserve a table at we will gladly offer suggestions.  However, the restaurants book up quickly so you may not get your first choice.  Make sure you check out their special menus for this week.

Participating restaurants are:

Enjoy good food and support the food bank!

Monticello in July

I was looking through some pamphlets on our desk yesterday and came across the schedule of events at Monticello for this summer. I noticed that in July there are some very interesting talks, walks and music on the schedule. If you are in Charlottesville in July you may want to check some of these out. You may also want to stay with us here at Foxfield Inn and enjoy a quiet relaxing evening after your busy day at Monticello.

On Saturday mornings from now through July 15th there are archaeology workshops which explore Site 6. This is an area that was once the home of enslaved field laborers in the early nineteenth century. This is followed on Saturday July 16th with another workshop on how to learn from the records of the digs and from the excavated artifacts.

On July 9th The Natural History of Trees Walk takes place. Learn how trees played an important role in Thomas Jefferson's gardens. Peter Hatch leads the walk and helps you learn how to identify fifty tree species and understand their cultural and historical character.

The annual Wintergreen Summer Music Festival will occur on a three consecutive Thursdays - July 14, 21, and 28th. This year's theme is Realms of Gold: A Mediterranean Odyssey.

We hope to see you in July when you explore all that Monticello has to offer.
