| One of my favorites from 2010 |
If you are like me the Christmas catalogs started arriving here at
Foxfield Inn
well before I was ready for them. Now that Thanksgiving is past it's
time to start looking forward to celebrating the joys of the holiday
season. Looking for something to do this weekend? The
businesses in downtown Charlottesville have gotten together again to provide
Downtown for the Holidays. How about starting
off on Thursday December 1st with the kick-off of the
8th Annual Virginia Gingerbread Christmas
? It is a Winter Wonderland of gingerbread houses made by children of all ages. The theme for the houses is fairy tales and nursery rhymes. It runs through
Sunday December 4th. So if you are staying with us here at our
Charlottesville bed and breakfast we would love to know which was your favorite gingerbread house.
If you are in the downtown mall area on Saturday morning you should
see the
Holiday Heritage Parade from 10:00 to 11:30am. There will also
be free concerts, dance performances, choral groups and music all day at
The Paramount Theater . Then stop by one of the many downtown restaurants for a great lunch before heading out to some of the wineries on the
Monticello Wine Trail .
Planning ahead and thinking about New Year's Eve? Here's a hint:
First Night Virginia!
