First Night Virginia 2012 in Charlottesville. If you are staying with us at our Charlottesville bed and breakfast then you might want to check out the schedule of events. Not only are we celebrating the beginning of a new year but also this is the kick-off event to celebrate Charlottesville 250th Anniversary!
The day (December 31st) starts off great with a 5K Race/Walk. This is followed by music, entertainment and dancing at various locales in the downtown mall area. There will be string quartets, pipes & drums, a chorus, bluegrass music, a magician, puppets and lots more.
The evening ends with a laser light show in the Pavilion at 10:30pm. And for those of you who want to catch some of the UVA football game at the Chick-Fil-A Bowl it is being aired at 7:30 in the Pavilion.
Sounds like it will be a good time! See you there.

It's that time of year when the Holiday Market is open for artisans to sell their wares in downtown Charlottesville. If you are staying with us at Foxfield Inn it is an easy drive to the market where you can park and peruse what the vendors have to offer. Dan was there this last Saturday and was impressed with what the local crafters had on display.
Afterwards head one block north to Main Street and shop in the unique stores on the pedestrian mall. There are more than 120 shops with all sorts of items for sale. While downtown you can stop at one of over 30 restaurants for a quick lunch or linger over lunch with a glass of wine at Siips. Other great places for lunch are Hamilton's on First & Main, The Nook, Bizou and Petit Pois.
Barracks Road Shopping Plaza. More great stores to peruse. Check out SCOUT-Charlottesville for some unique shopping ideas. Their blog today highlights Scarpa's cowboy boots for sale. Some of them are pretty sharp.
Enjoy the day!
